The park is ideally situated to the north of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty whose landscape of rolling hills inspired one of England's greatest poets, Alfred Tennyson.

Caistor, an attractive Georgian market town with a history dating back to Roman times, is situated two miles from the park. It is unique in its architecture, possessing a number of listed buildings and ancient monuments. Saturday is market day, with a wide selection of local foods and crafts on offer.

Wolds Retreat is situated close to Market Rasen, a traditional market town which has the only racecourse in Lincolnshire. Horse racing has taken place here for as long as people can remember, and it is still a great day out for all the family. The friendly atmosphere and amazing views around the course are unmatched anywhere in the country.

The towns of Lincoln, Scunthorpe, and Grimsby are also within easy reach, offering a good selection of shops, restaurants, and leisure facilities.
